Frequently Asked Questions

Following is a list of questions that have been frequently asked about HIGHPOINT and its development. If you have a question that isn’t answered on this page, feel free to send an e-mail to: info[at]playhighpoint[dot]com!

  • When will HIGHPOINT be released?
We currently do not have a release date in our sights. At this time, development is still in an “advanced prototype” or “pre-alpha” stage. There’s a lot left to be done, and it’s very important to us that we not rush our way to launch. We’re aiming to create the very best game we can — we promise it will be worth the wait!
  • Can I sign up to participate in Alpha or Beta testing? What about these “Community Preview” events I’ve been hearing about?
At this time, we do not know when official alpha or beta testing will begin, since both of those stages of development are still a ways down the road. Even so, the wonderful members of our community will get the chance to play the game sooner (and help us improve it!) long before we hit those big milestones. We’re calling these special access opportunities “Community Preview events,” and we’re working eagerly toward making them a reality as soon as possible. If this sounds interesting to you, we encourage you to subscribe to our mailing list and/or join our Discord server! Our mailing list subscribers and Discord members will be the first to learn about these Community Preview events and other major announcements.
  • What platforms will HIGHPOINT be available on? Will it be coming to consoles?
It’s too early for us to make any specific promises, but what we can say for sure is, we intend to make HIGHPOINT available on both PC and consoles. Once we’re further down the road, we should be able to share more specific announcements about which console(s) the game will be released on, and when.
  • Will HIGHPOINT be available on Steam? What about other digital storefronts?
We absolutely intend to make HIGHPOINT available on Steam. (We’re happy users of Steam ourselves!) We also plan to place the game in as many other digital storefronts as will have us! We’re very open-minded on this subject, and want to make HIGHPOINT as available to players in as many ways as we reasonably can.
  • How many players are supported on each team? Is it just 2v2? How about 3v3?
So far, 2v2 has proven to be the “sweet spot” throughout much of our testing and showing of the game so far. Even so, 3v3 is also completely supported. As for other configurations, such as 4v4 or 5v5, we currently don’t have plans to implement those team sizes, but we haven’t yet ruled anything out for certain and may explore them in the future.
  • What about various game modes? How about a game mode where three teams fight each other? Or a mode where the ball randomly explodes, or the floor turns to lava, or meteors rain from the sky?
We’re totally open-minded about exploring secondary game modes. The mode with two-teams, one (non-exploding) ball, and in the form of 2v2 or 3v3 will always be our “signature” mode for HIGHPOINT — but if we discover another fun and exciting way to play the game, you can bet that we’ll do our best to bring it to life!
  • How much will HIGHPOINT cost when it is released? Will it be free-to-play?
HIGHPOINT will be sold as a “premium” indie game, meaning the game will not use the free-to-play model. We haven’t yet determined exactly what HIGHPOINT’s pricing will be when it is released. What we can promise is, its pricing will be a fair reflection of its features — we’re very serious about players getting their money’s worth. Broadly speaking, it’s safe to expect that HIGHPOINT will be priced in the neighborhood of other premium indie games.
  • Will HIGHPOINT offer in-game purchases, like micro-transactions?
We currently do not have any plans for implementing micro-transactions in the game.
  • What engine is HIGHPOINT using?
HIGHPOINT is being made using Unreal Engine 4, and we’re very excited about that.
