HIGHPOINT Dev Blog: Summer 2020 Wrap-Up

Hello again, friends!

Holy guacamole, has it been a busy several months since our last update! There’s plenty of exciting stuff to talk about, but before we kick things off, we’d like to send another HUGE thank you to every member of our growing community for all of the support, patience, and enthusiasm we continue to receive and enjoy as we bring this beloved project closer and closer to life.

Seriously, your collective excitement fuels us more than we can describe. Thanks so much for that!

We could start this wrap-up by explaining how we wanted to post something like it sooner than, well, now — but instead of making playful excuses, how about we just get right into it? It’s a big one, so get comfy!

HIGHPOINT Dev Blog: February-April SUPER Wrap-Up!

Hello friends!

Long time, no update! Before diving in, we just want to thank you for your patience. As a very small team, we wear a lot of hats — from design, art, engineering, networking, and testing, to social media management, content creation, and webmasters with a blog that we sometimes push to the furthest backburner.

To have members of our community interested in the goings-on of development at a more intimate scale is something we’re really grateful for. And it’s something we want to continue cultivating and growing. So thanks again for sticking with us, even during the more quiet months!

Without further ado, here goes with a mega three-month wrap-up!

Dev Blog! Jan 2020 Wrap-Up

A lot’s been happening since the beginning of the year — so here’s a review of what we’ve been up to!

MAGFest 2020

We kicked off the year by showcasing at MAGFest! This was our very first public showing of the game, and also our very first convention as presenters. If that sounds exciting and maybe-just-slightly-overwhelming, well… it was! But the entire event went incredibly well and we couldn’t be happier or more grateful for that.

Everything about MAGFest was unforgettable from the start — designing the booth art, buying and assembling booth equipment, evolving the game build as quickly as possible, and on and on. But the most unforgettable part was finally handing over the controllers to new players for the first time!

Web Site Live, and Dev Blog Posts Coming Soon!

Hello and welcome to Version 1.0 of the HIGHPOINT site and dev blog!

It’s been a long time coming! We’re thrilled to finally have a “home” on the web that we can share with folks, and an outlet for writing longer-form posts about the things we’re doing and thinking about while developing the game. This project has always been a blast to work on, and now with the site online, it’s suddenly gotten even better!

While Twitter and Instagram will continue to be our go-to outlets for general or higher-level updates about the project, this blog is where we’ll be able to dive deep into some of the specific subjects that are relevant to our current stage of development, or to those stages that are still a ways off but are nonetheless on the horizon for us. Also, game development is a never-ending learning process, and we’d love the opportunity to share what we’re learning with other devs who might discover this blog someday. Plus, we hope that writing about the game, especially in terms of elements of its “design”, will help us further sharpen our vision of where we’re headed. (They say writing about something requires you to think about it in a different way. Others say writing is its own reward. Either way, we’re on board, so let’s get on with it already!)
